Aqsa Syarif Truck Convoy bring RM2.56 million in aids
into Gaza - A2G12 - MyTruCAid Mission.
With
great pleasure, Aqsa Syarif announces the humanitarian mission A2G12 (Aqsa2Gaza
12) scheduled to depart 2 January 2013 and anticipating to enter Gaza through
Rafah, Egypt on 3 January 2013. This mission marked the first of many to be
mobilised by Aqsa Syarif for the year 2013.
The
uniqueness of the serial A2G missions this time is it involves a convoy of 35
trucks laden with food, medicine, winter clothing, school equipment and
building materials, thus dubbed the A2G12-MyTruCaid mission. A2G12 is the continuation of A2G10 – ER and
A2G11 – ER that were successfully pulled by Aqsa Syarif in the wake of the
latest bout of Israeli attack that lasted from 14 to 21 November last year. The
total amount of aid on A2G12 is valued at RM2.6 million with the following
breakdowns.

VPM (Viva Palestina Malaysia) also
contributed 3000 units of solar lamps in this mission.
Aqsa
Syarif took the opportunity from the recent announcement by the Egyptian
government that permits the entry of building materials into Gaza through the
Rafah crossing. Malaysia was only preceded by Qatar which ferried in 6
truckloads of construction material into Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing
on 31 December 2012.
This mission also included a Psycho-social
training for doctors in Gaza to deal with post-traumatic stress due to war
especially on children. The training programme which will be conducted by Prof
Dr Muhammad Hatta Shaharom, a senior consultant psychiatrist from Cyberjaya
University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS). He
is also the Deputy President of Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia. Another
medical doctor on this mission is Dr Zaharah Sulaiman, an expert and consultant
in lactation and breast feeding practices. She also heads the three women
delegation from Aqsa Syarif Australia chapter.
A2G12
mission also brought along contributions from schools around Johore with a
total collections of RM60, 000 to be disbursed for needy schools in Gaza. UNITI College in Port Dickson together with BondaMama Kids Centers, a
pre-school education network of UNITI throughout Malaysia also contributed
RM15, 000 to be disbursed to preschool establishments for the orphans in Gaza.
A2G12
comprised of 26 activists lead by Tn Hj Ahmad Shafiai Uda Jaafar, Aqsa Syarif
board member of trustees. Among them are Malaysian student activists from
Australia (3), Egypt (9) and UK (one from the Israa Institution, UK).
Aqsa
Syarif would like to express her gratitude to the continuous support of
Malaysians who have never wavered in giving their moral and material support to
the Palestinians who have been persecuted under the Zionist illegal occupation
and the debilitating siege of Gaza. The Palestinians have always looked up to
their Malaysian brothers and sisters with gratitude.
